Abstract
Neurotrophic factors of dopaminergic neurons may represent a potential neuroprotective therapy for PD. This article reviews published experi ments that demonstrate the effects of neurotrophic factors on dopamine rgic neurons in vitro and in vivo. At present this issue is predominan tly investigated in basic neuroscientific research. Its possible futur e clinical relevance is discussed.
