Abstract
This paper deals with some of the beneficial effects which basic iron( III) oxide has on the flammability, smoke production, thermal and ligh t stability, and the impact strength of some selected blends of ABS an d PVC. Iron compounds as well as having excellent flame retarding/smok e suppressing effects in this polymer system also confer additional st ability on the blends which is often missing in other FR/SS compounds.
