The dispersion of black rat over oceanic islands took place in histori
cal epoch in the course of human marine expansion. The present distrib
ution of black rat and accompaning eusynanthropous rodents that occupi
ed insular areas is shown by the analysis of data from more than 200 p
ublications. The maps of global dispersion of black, Norway, Polynesia
n rats and house mouse over islands are given. The characteristic feat
ures of the distribution of the black rat are shown by designation of
latitudinal zones of global range of eusynanthropous rodents. The prin
cipal factors determining diffusion and implantation of black rat on o
ceanic islands are revealed.
