A. Maltha et al., TRANSITION-METAL OXIDES AS CATALYSTS FOR THE SELECTIVE REDUCTION OF NITROBENZENE, Journal of molecular catalysis, 93(3), 1994, pp. 305-316
The activity of various 3d, 4d and 5d transition metal oxides in the s
elective reduction of nitrobenzene to nitrosobenzene has been investig
ated. An attempt has been made to find a correlation between these act
ivities and several properties of the oxides investigated, such as the
ir place in the Periodic Table, structure, reducibility, heat of forma
tion and surface metal-oxygen bond strength. A weak volcano-shape corr
elation can be seen with the heat of formation and the surface metal-o
xygen bond strength.
