The sorption behavior of reactive dye-resist compounds and their local
ization on wool fibers were investigated, and the influence of structu
ral changes in the dye molecule on resist effectiveness was determined
. The anionic dyes selected varied in acidity, dye-fiber bonding type,
and migration behavior. Resistance against hydrophobic dyes was poor.
A minimum of dye acidity was needed to obtain a significant resist ef
fect. Further, low migration ability led to higher resist effects.
