Abstract
The reaction of ethyl H)-oxofuran-3-yl)methyl]phenoxyacetate/propionat e/ butyrate (7, 8 and 9) with sodium borohydride has been studied. Com pound 7 exhibits chemoselectivity towards the reduction of ester group and compound 9 exhibits chemoselectivity towards the lactone ring ope ning. Compound 8, however, does not exhibit any such chemoselectivity.
