Considerable increase in the reaction rate has been observed with bett
er yields in the syntheses of some substituted 5, 6-dihydro-s-triazolo
[3, 4-b] [1, 3, 4] thiadiazoles by the condensation of 3-alkyl/aryl-4-
amino-5-mercaptotriazoles (1) with various aromatic aldehydes (2) in t
he presence of catalytic amount of p-toluenesulphonic acid in unsealed
vessels by microwave irradiation using DMF as energy transfer medium.
