CONVERSION DISORDER

The casuistry of a 5 year old up to that time healthy boy with a drama tical and progressive illness was described including ataxia, convulsi ve seizures, choreoathetosis, impaired language, hyperexcitable reflex es, headache, confusion and affect-lability. After excluding an inflam matory and cancerous process, the symptomatic looks like a severe neur ometabolic disease. At last, it could be identified as a conversion di sorder. That is an important and often ignored diagnosis.
