Theoretical and experimental investigations were made of the phase con
jugation of radiation from a pulse-periodic CO2 laser under four-wave
mixing conditions. Toluene and sulfur hexafluoride (elegaz) were used
as the nonlinear media. The reflection coefficient of the phase conjug
ating mirror was approximately 10% - 15%. In the case of toluene the e
xperimental and calculated results were in satisfactory agreement.
