D. Campi et al., ENHANCED CONFINEMENT OF ELECTRONS AT ROOM-TEMPERATURE USING A SUPERLATTICE REFLECTOR, Applied physics letters, 65(17), 1994, pp. 2148-2150
We report the experimental study of the thermionic emission of electro
ns into overbarrier states of a superlattice, tailored to enhance elec
tron confinement within a closely spaced quantum well. Partial suppres
sion of the thermionic current is observed at room temperature. A crit
ical evaluation of the practical applications of the effect is offered
. Furthermore, the tunnel injection into partially delocalized Stark s
tates of the superlattice is observed at low temperature. (C) 1994 Ame
