Yc. Cheng et al., DEVELOPING LAMINAR-FLOW AND HEAT-TRANSFER IN A RECTANGULAR DUCT WITH ONE-WALLED INJECTION AND SUCTION, International journal of heat and mass transfer, 37(17), 1994, pp. 2601-2613
This paper presents a numerical investigation on the developing lamina
r flow and forced convection in the entrance region of a rectangular d
uct with one wall subjected to a constant heat flux and a uniform flui
d injection or suction. Using the pressure deviation and vorticity-vel
ocity method, the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and energy
equation are solved simultaneously. Typical velocity and temperature
distributions along the flow direction are reported, and both the hydr
odynamic and thermal entrance lengths are examined. The phenomenon of
flow reversal in suction flow is illustrated by variations of the axia
l pressure gradient. Friction factors and Nusselt numbers are also des
cribed for various wall Reynolds numbers and aspect ratios. Finally, a
comparison of this numerical study with the existing data is made.
