Abstract
This correspondence describes the control structure for an intelligent handwritten address interpretation system. The system takes a grey-le vel address image, segments the address into lines and words, parses t he address into meaningful syntactic categories, recognizes words usin g dynamically generated lexicons, and determines the destination code with the aid of postal directories.
