Abstract
The photocatalytic transformation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) has been st udied in aqueous slurries, on powders and on immobilized particulate f ilms of TiO2. These results are compared to those obtained using gamma and pulse radiolysis in order to establish a comprehensive picture of the 4-CP reaction pathway in TiO2 systems. The disappearance of 4-CP and its reaction intermediates in TiO2 slurries involves a combination of hydroxyl radical oxidation, direct electron transfer and surface c hemical reactions.
