EFFECT OF SULFATES ON THE SETTING TIME OF CEMENT AND STRENGTH OF CONCRETE

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation in wh ich the effects of sulfates on the initial and final setting times of ordinary portland cement and compressive strength of concrete are inve stigated. It was observed that the type of sulfate and the ion concent ration affect the setting times significantly; the increase in initial setting time is more prominent. The parameters reduce the compressive strength of concrete at different ages.
