Abstract
Tenant selection is an important strategic and operational problem for large property investment and management companies. This paper presen ts an evolutionary prototyping project developed in conjunction with a long term programme of establishing a property management information system for a known company. The project aims at developing a tenant s election decision support system (TSDSS) which employs a multi-criteri a analysis technique as its evaluation tool. TSDSS also introduces a n ew method for determining the alternatives to be considered in the sel ection process, so that the values of some criteria, which represent t he characteristics of the combinations of the chosen tenants, can be o btained. The alternative generation method has actually improved the p racticality of using Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) techniques in some real life situations. However, from this development, some basic probl ems of using this technique have been revealed.
