We describe the first known case of pneumonia caused by a mucoid Steno
trophomonas maltophilia (Xanthomonas maltophilia) strain in a patient
with bronchiectasis. The patient was admitted because of mild hemoptys
is sis and productive cough with infiltrative shadow in the right lowe
r lung field on chest X ray. The clinical symptoms were mild, and trea
tment with minocycline was effective.
