The results of this study show that goat blood as a culture medium sup
plement is as supportive as horse blood for the isolation and identifi
cation of Haemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pneumoniae from cli
nical material. Care is required in the preparation of god blood choco
late agar to ensure that a thermolabile growth inhibitor of NAD-depend
ent Haemophilus species is eliminated.
