Abstract
The magnetization of (100) EuTe/PbTe superlattices and of (100) EuTe f ilmwas studied. For thin EuTe layers (several monolayers) both the Nee l temperature T-N and the field H-c necessary to destroy the antiferro magnetic order decrease with decreasing thickness. No transition is fo und for a single monolayer. Information concerning the EuTe/PbTe inter face is obtained from T-N using a simple model. Below TN and at low fi elds the spins are in the (100) plane of the layer, which is explained by calculations of the dipole-dipole anisotropy.
