Abstract
An initial data preparation method, allowing the study of 3D free shea r-flows with the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, is given. Simulations are presented, showing that this method is a valid alternative to the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations for the numerical study of shear-fl ows.
