Abstract
Satellite images, digital elevation models and field data are combined to produce a geometrical model of a tilted block system in the South- Yemen margin. Restoration of this strained area to its initial state e nables determination of the finite displacements field by comparison b etween initial and final states. Results yield evidence of an early ex tensional event different from movements associated with the Arabian p late drift and linked with the opening of the Gulf of Aden.
