Jm. Person et al., AUTOIMMUNE HEMOLYTIC-ANEMIA IN THE CAT - CLINICAL AND IMMUNOPATHOLOGICAL STUDY OF 5 CASES, Revue de Medecine Veterinaire, 148(2), 1997, pp. 107
The authors describe the clinical and biological signs of autoimmune h
emolytic anaemia diagnosed in five cats. They report also the results
of immunopathological tests which proved the auto-immune character of
the anaemia and the presence of Anti-Nuclear Auto-antibodies at titer
slightly elevated (1/200) in the serum of one of these five cats. Thes
e case reports are followed by a discussion to compare the clinical, b
iological and immunopathological results obtained with similar cases p
ublished in the literature. The possibility of a development of a feli
ne lupus erythematosus is considered for one of these cats. The author
s make the difficult diagnosis features of certainty for lupus-like sy
ndrom in the cat.
