Abstract
Hereditary spastic paraplegia is a rare form of motor system disease w ith autosomal dominant or recessive inheritance. Onset in childhood or youth is characteristic and serves as a diagnostic feature. We saw a family with the autosomal dominant type of SP and first symptoms prese nting at around 60 years of age. Hence the hereditary disorder has to be considered as one of the differential diagnoses of spastic parapleg ia even in adults at an advanced age, the family history gaining speci al importance.
