Dr. Avalos et al., TRANSVERSE VIBRATIONS OF A CIRCULAR PLATE CARRYING AN ELASTICALLY MOUNTED MASS, Journal of sound and vibration, 177(2), 1994, pp. 251-258
An exact solution of the title problem is rather difficult to obtain.
On the other hand, it is not advantageous from a practical viewpoint i
f one wishes to take into account several parameters that come into pl
ay: flexibility of rotational and translational properties at the plat
e edge; elastic moduli of the plate material; concentrated mass/total
plate mass, etc. In view of these considerations an approximate, yet q
uite accurate solution is obtained by using the optimized Rayleigh-Rit
z method and polynomial co-ordinate functions which satisfy identicall
y the governing boundary conditions. Only axisymmetric modes are consi
dered in the present investigation.
