INHERITANCE OF MITOCHONDRIAL-DNA IN ARTIF ICIAL HYBRIDS OF PINK (ONCORHYNCHUS-GORBUSCHA WALB) AND MASU (ONCORHYNCHUS-MASOU BREV) SALMON

Comparative restriction analysis of mtDNA of pink and masu salmon and their hybrids was performed using four restriction enzymes that give d ifferent mtDNA cleavage patterns for these species. Sets of mtDNA frag ments in hybrids were shown to be similar to that in pink salmon, whic h was the source of eggs during artificial hybridization. Thus, experi mental confirmation of the maternal inheritance pattern of the mitocho ndrial genome in salmonids was obtained.
