This case report describes the clinical and pathologic features of gen
eralized congential hemangiomatosis in a 5-month-old Limousin heifer.
An investigation was undertaken in an attempt to determine the etiolog
y and progression of the condition. The heifer was euthanized after a
month-long observation period. At necropsy lesions were found disperse
d throughout the skin and subcutaneous tissues, the mesentery, the pul
monary parenchyma, the right kidney, the umbilicus, over the right jug
ular groove, in the serosa of the small intestine, the pericardial sac
, both renal capsules, and the broad ligament of the uterus. Histologi
cally the lesions could be divided into three categories but all were
within the broad classification of hemangioma. To our knowledge this c
ase was the oldest calf on record with generalized congenital hemangio
matosis.
