Abstract
We have analyzed the effect of a laser on the sequential tunneling cur rent through a GaAs/AlGaAs double barrier. We consider a canonical tra nsformation and time dependent perturbation theory to calculate the tr ansmission coefficient and the current density assisted by photons. Th e effect of the light on both tunneling processes: coherent and sequen tial is discussed for different samples and light frequencies.
