Single crystals of Mg-2[Be-3(PO4)(3)(OH)].6H(2)O are grown hydrotherma
lly and characterized by X-ray structure analysis, which proves BeO3(O
H) and PO4 tetrahedra are linked by common corners to establish a one-
dimensionally infinite, chiral, polar polyanion of composition [Be-3(P
O4)(3)(OH)](4n-)(n) with nearly 1 nm diameter extending parallel to [0
01].
