Ra. Charter, DETERMINING RANDOM RESPONDING FOR THE CATEGORY, SPEECH-SOUNDS PERCEPTION, AND SEASHORE RHYTHM TESTS, Neuropsychology, development, and cognition. Section A, Journal of clinical and experimental neuropsychology, 16(5), 1994, pp. 744-748
A formula is presented for determining if scores from the Category, Sp
eech-Sounds Perception, and Seashore Rhythm tests are significantly di
fferent from random responding. Confidence intervals for random respon
ding are also presented. Results of published studies involving normat
ive and non-normal subjects are reviewed, and the percentage of subjec
ts responding in the random range are presented. Normative subjects' s
cores on the Category and Speech-Sounds Perception tests do not fall i
nto the random range, but high percentages of their Seashore Rhythm Te
st scores do fall into the random range.
