Abstract
Many numerical solutions have been obtained for the problem of a stead y state flow of viscous incompressible fluid in a driven cavity. Unlik e most finite difference methods (FDMs), the differential quadrature m ethod (DQM) uses new iterative techniques for numerically solving the Navier-Stokes equation without time-dependence. The DQM solves directl y for the inhomogeneous biharmonic stream function, and the applicabil ity of the method is demonstrated. The method of differential quadratu re allows for simpler formulations and less computational effort compa red with finite difference methods and leads to quite accurate results for a coarse mesh model at low Reynolds number.
