Anaplastic myeloma represents an unusual variety of multiple myeloma,
which is characterized by clinical and morphologic findings different
than those of typical multiple myeloma or plasmocytoma. It has poor pr
ognosis and no response to therapy. A 44-year-old man who developed an
aplastic myeloma, while he was in remission of multiple myeloma, is pr
esented in this paper. The patient developed extramedullary masses in
head, chest, around kidneys and skin. He had not signs of hematologica
l relapse apart from increased levels of beta2-microglobulin.
