Abstract
A synthetic gene encoding the aminoacid sequence of the sweet-tasting protein thaumatin II has been assembled and expressed in Escherichia c oli. Immunoblotting analysis shows that the expressed recombinant thau matin has the same molecular weight as the protein from its natural so urce, the plant Thaumatoccocus daniellii Benth.
