I. Mistrik et al., EFFECT OF SYRINGOTOXIN ON STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL-PROPERTIES OF HOST-CELL MEMBRANES, Acta phytopathologica et entomologica Hungarica, 28(2-4), 1993, pp. 231-243
Syringotoxin produced by Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae bacteria ca
used a depolarisation of the membrane potentials (E(m)) in the Lemna g
ibba cells, release of electrolytes from maize roots, the changes of t
he oxidative metabolism of maize root mitochondria their swelling in t
he presence of NADH and KCl and structural changes as well. The result
s strongly suggest that ST acts in different ways on the lipid and the
protein part of biomembranes in host plant cells.
