Abstract
Not all inventions designed to function in the world of banking and bu siness are patentable. The author explains the three primary legal req uirements that must be met before such inventions can be patented: new ness, sufficient disclosure, and potential commercial value. He then g ives examples, drawn from banking and business, of business machines a nd business processes that were either granted or denied patent protec tion.
