H. Kamioka et al., DIVALENT-CATIONS ELEVATE CYTOSOLIC CALCIUM OF CHICK OSTEOCYTES, Biochemical and biophysical research communications, 204(2), 1994, pp. 519-524
Though it is proposed that osteocytes have several functions in bone m
etabolism, only limited definite information including results of calc
ium regulation has been forthcoming. We demonstrate here for the first
time that the concentration of divalent cations, such as calcium, nic
kel and cadmium, directly regulates the cytosolic calcium concentratio
n in osteocytes. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
