PURPOSE: To document a case of conjunctival bullae in cicatricial pemp
higoid. METHODS: We describe patients who developed bullae on the conj
unctiva in association with cicatricial pemphigoid. RESULTS: Bullae we
re found on the superior tarsal conjunctiva of two patients. In the fi
rst patient, the bulla persisted over a long period; in the second pat
ient, bullae resolved with scarring. CONCLUSION: Unlike gingival bulla
e, bullae on the conjunctiva in cicatricial pemphigoid are not well do
cumented in the literature. Although uncommon, their presence may be a
useful diagnostic sign of cicatricial pemphigoid, particularly when t
he bullae are associated with conjunctival cicatrization and symblepha
ron.
