Abstract
The phenomenon of metal biosorption by microorganisms has been thoroug hly documented. Although this phenomenon is exhibited by both living a nd non-living forms of biomass, the purpose of this chapter will be to review biosorption by the latter. In addition, the application of var ious technological processes required for exploitation of this phenome non in waste treatment will be examined.
