C. Cauletti et al., A NOTE ON DISSOCIATIVE PHOTOIONIZATION OF NEOPENTANE IN THE 10-30 EV PHOTON ENERGY-RANGE, Chemical physics, 188(2-3), 1994, pp. 387-393
The photofragmentation of neopentane in the photon energy range 10-30
eV with synchrotron radiation is analysed and compared with previous d
ata on mass and photoelectron spectra of this molecule. A broad maximu
m due to a shape resonance in the ion yield of the most abundant fragm
ent ions is observed around 16 eV photon energy along with Rydberg ser
ies converging to the 2a1(-1) ionization threshold. The analysis of th
e branching ratios of the main fragment ions hints at a preferential d
ecay of the shape resonance through the ionization channel 3t2(-1).
