The separation of enantiomers of underivatized ketoprofen, as well as
a number of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, was studied b
y high performance liquid chromatography using a recently developed ch
iral stationary phase packed in a microbore column. Electrostatic and
pi-pi interactions are assumed to control the retention of the analyte
s. The enantioselectivity remains constant in a wide range of organic
modifier concentration, and is restricted to a pH window ranging from
2.5 to 5.0.
