Dm. Mcloughlin et al., CENTRAL SEROTONERGIC HYPERRESPONSIVITY IN LATE-ONSET ALZHEIMERS-DISEASE, The American journal of psychiatry, 151(11), 1994, pp. 1701-1703
The prolactin response to oral d-fenfluramine (30 mg) was measured in
nine patients with fate-onset Alzheimer's disease and in an elderly co
mparison group. The serotonin-mediated prolactin response was signific
antly greater in the patients with Alzheimer's disease than in the com
parison group. This finding suggests that central serotonin responsivi
ty is greater in Alzheimer's disease.
