S. Srivastava et al., A MODEL STUDY OF LOWER IONOSPHERE DURING SOLAR-FLARE EVENTS AND IONOSPHERIC ABSORPTION AT DELHI, Indian journal of radio & space physics, 23(5), 1994, pp. 347-358
A model study of lower ionospheric composition during solar flare even
ts on 4, 6 and 7 Feb. 1986 is made using a simplified and a detailed i
on chemical scheme. Results show an enhancement in electron density at
80 km by a factor of 5 or less and about 10 for moderate and strong f
lares, respectively. A decrease in the cut-off level of cluster ions a
nd that in the effective recombination coefficient are also noticed un
der flare conditions. A comparison between computed and observed absor
ption at 2.132 MHz measured at Delhi is also made.
