The Ultraviolet Coronal Spectrometer on Spartan 201 obtained measureme
nts of H I Lyalpha line profiles and O VI lambda103.2/103.7 nm integra
ted intensities in a helmet streamer. Similar measurements were made o
n the solar disk to characterize the incident radiation which is the s
ource for the resonantly scattered component of the lines. A descripti
on of the H I Ly alpha observations in the streamer will be presented.
A more complete physical description of the observed coronal regions
will become available after the analysis of additional data from coord
inated observations made by visible coronagraphs and x-ray telescopes.
