Abstract
A 4-year-old Thoroughbred filly was referred for evaluation of a soft palate defect that had been created several weeks earlier during surgi cal correction of epiglottic entrapment, performed transorally. Surgic al correction of the defect was performed via mandibular symphysiotomy . At 85 days after repair, the horse raced successfully. A 2-year-old Thoroughbred filly was admitted for evaluation and treatment of epiglo ttic entrapment. The soft palate was lacerated during transnasal divis ion of the entrapping membrane. A 2-cm full-thickness soft palate lace ration was repaired transorarly.
