C. Contescu et Ja. Schwarz, ANOTHER VIEW OF THE SURFACE-PROPERTIES OF HIGH-SURFACE-AREA ALPHA-ALUMINA, Applied catalysis. A, General, 118(1), 1994, pp. 120000005-120000010
Proton adsorption isotherms derived from potentiometric titration of h
igh surface area alpha aluminas were deconvoluted to yield proton affi
nity distributions. The results reported provide another view and addi
tional support to the conclusion reached by Mao and Vannice [Appl. Cat
al. A, 111 (1994) 151] that these materials prepared by topotactic tra
nsformation of diaspore have surface properties unlike those of either
low surface area alpha-Al2O3 or transition aluminas.
