Abstract
The interplay between magnetism and superconductivity in heavy fermion systems is discussed and the role of muon spin relaxation in elucidat ing these properties is emphasized. Relevant properties of all six hea vy fermion superconductors are briefly surveyed and instances where su perconductivity and magnetism compete, coexist and couple with one ano ther are pointed out. Current theoretical concepts underlying these ph enomena are highlighted.
