Abstract
In this plenary paper the evolution of the trace element content of th e human body to its present-day composition, the role that non-essenti al elements play in human biochemistry, the relatively recently resear ched roles of actinide complexes present in humans, and means of decon taminating wounds and other biological tissue are considered, and desi rable researches and legislation required for the next century are ref erred to.
