Abstract
A range of carboxylic esters and acids has been converted efficiently to the corresponding alcohols with polymethylhydrosiloxane in the pres ence of titanium (IV) isopropoxide or zirconium (IV) ethoxide; a stere ogenic centre adjacent to the ester is unaffected.
