S. Basavappa et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF ATP-SENSITIVE POTASSIUM CHANNELS IN INTESTINAL, CHOLECYSTOKININ-SECRETING CELLS, Biochemical and biophysical research communications, 204(2), 1994, pp. 855-860
In the present study, the electrophysiologic properties of ATP-sensiti
ve potassium channels were evaluated in an intestinal, cholecystokinin
-secreting cell line (STC-1). Channels were operative under basal cond
itions and, in cell-attached membrane patches, channel activity was de
creased by glucose or disopyramide, agents which classically inhibit A
TP-sensitive potassium channels, Channel activity was increased by the
K-ATP channel opener, diazoxide. Intestinal ATP-sensitive potassium c
hannels appear to behave in a similiar manner to those found in cardia
c and pancreatic beta cells. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
