Abstract
Lithium hydrogen cis-4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylate dihydrate, LiHC8H 8O4 . 2H2O, is monoclinic, C2/c, a = 28.276(7) angstrom, b = 5.3069(15 ) angstrom, c = 13.962(3) angstrom, beta = 106.78(2)-degrees; R(w) = 0 .029. The anions are linked to chains by intermolecular hydrogen bonds (O ... O 2.658(2) angstrom). Lithium is tetrahedrally coordinated. Th e water molecules build hydrogen-bonded chains, which extend in the [0 01] direction. The protons within this chain are disordered and have t wo possible positions with site occupation factors of 0.5. The disorde r is interpreted as being caused by a random distribution of internall y ordered chains of different alignment.
