The use of temporary and part-time workers continues to increase, maki
ng it imperative that human resource managers gain greater understandi
ng of the needs of these employees. New research by the authors identi
fy the areas of greatest discontent: employment insecurity, resentment
at impersonal treatment, feelings of being ''underemployed,'' and the
like. The article ends with suggestions on how employers can draft po
licies to help make temporary workers happier and more productive.
