Lz. Xin et M. Kumakura, CHARACTERISTICS OF FILAMENTOUS CELLS IMMOBILIZED WITH IONIC-HYDROPHOBIC POLYMERS PREPARED BY A RADIATION POLYMERIZATION METHOD, Process biochemistry, 29(8), 1994, pp. 651-656
Filamentous cells of Trichoderma reesei were immobilized using a fibro
us carrier covered with ionic-hydrophobic polymers, prepared by radiat
ion copolymerization. The effect of the ionic properties of the polyme
rs was investigated by changing the monomer composition in a trimethyl
propane triacrylate (A-TMPT) - acrylic acid (AA) or methacrylic acid d
iethylaminoethyl ester (DEAEMA) system. More positive charge or less n
egative charge in the polymers led to an increase in the growth of the
cells immobilized on their surface. Enzyme productivity in the immobi
lized cells with AA-A-TMPT polymer was higher than with a DEAEMA-A-TMP
T polymer.
